MSP Polar Bear Plunge - 26 Jan 2013
**** THIS GALLERY IS A WORK IN PROGRESS CHECK BACK FOR UPDATES ****
I arrived at Sandy Point State Park this morning, paid my $50.00 donation fee to a very worthy cause. I received my complimentary sweatshirt and started on my journey walking around taking in the sights and sounds of the 17th Annual Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge. Which had quite the variety of things to see, such as wood sculpting, Baltimore Ravens Cheerleaders, Baltimore Ravens Marching Band, Ravens Nation, Costume Contest, Food and Craft Vendors, Joe Flacco Face Signs and the brave souls who donate to be a Chesapeake Bay Plunger. I almost forgot to mention how it was also a very balmy 28 degrees at the time with a slight gust of wind now and then! The MSP Polar Bear Plunge is a fundraising event that sponsors kids who participate in the Maryland Special Olympics. The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for persons eight years of age and older with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community. Special Olympics Athlete’s Oath "Let me win; but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt."
Total donations to date for the event: $1,851,126
